AN apprentice has secured a job with a takeaway supplier.
Ryan Hall, from Gateshead, achieved an apprenticeship last year with fish and chip supplier Henry Colbeck.
The 18-year-old, who was supported in his apprenticeship by skills provider Ingeus, has now been rewarded with a job at the company.
Mr Hall said: “Rather than apply for university, I wanted to continue by learning and earning at the same time and I have enjoyed finding out as much as I can about my job.
“I’m really thrilled that this will now continue and I will do my best for my employer as well as for myself.”
During his apprenticeship, Ryan developed warehouse skills as well as learning about food and hygiene, how to operate machinery and health and safety, and also took a leadership course.
Graham Lee, operations manager at Henry Colbeck, said: “Our workforce is extremely dedicated and so vacancies rarely arise. However, Ryan demonstrated to us, through his hard work, that he really wanted to be part of our team and I was delighted to tell him he had succeeded.”
Phil Dorn, training adviser at Ingeus, added: “Ryan has the perfect opportunity to make great progress at Henry Colbeck, and we look forward to hearing of his further success.”
