A RETAILER is creating jobs in a MetroCentre expansion.
Wilko is opening a store in the Gateshead shopping arcade.
Bosses say the move will create more than 50 posts.
Kay Armstrong, manager at the MetroCentre outlet, said: “This is a fantastic location with a strong retail offering.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming shoppers.”
The company was founded in 1930 as Wilkinson Stores by J K Wilkinson.
Its MetroCentre base will be the family business’ 393rd UK store.
