AN energy consultancy has secured a deal with a major supermarket.

Utilitywise has been chosen by City Holdings, who work with Asda, to deploy its cost saving technology across the UK.

The company, based in North Tyneside, helps companies manage their power and water bills.

The software connects in-store systems ranging from refrigeration, lighting, fire alarms and security together in a single network, leading to reduced costs.

Brin Sheridan, chief operating officer of Utilitywise, said: “There is huge potential for our modern, technology-led solutions not only in the retail sector but in any sector encompassing businesses with physical premises.

“We are confident that we have an extremely competitive offering which will enable us to grow our market share in the Building Technology sector.”

Tony Parkinson, head of engineering at City Holdings, said: “Utilitywise met the challenge and have consistently delivered beyond the team’s expectations a solution which meets all of our requirements.”

The company recently announced the appointment of a new chief executive, with Brendan Flattery taking over the position this month.

Utilitywise will report its full-year results tomorrow (Tuesday, October 18).
