A SKILLS exhibition is returning to the region.
The Tees Valley Skills Event, now in its fifth year, will take place later this year.
Hosted by the Tees Valley Combined Authority, in partnership with North Yorkshire Business and Education Partnership, Teesside University and Tees Valley Learning Provider Network, organisers say it is one of the largest events of its type in the area.
Hosted by Teesside University, officials say the fair will allow employers and learning providers to meet their potential future workforce by allowing them to highlight the skills and qualifications they need.
Last year, more than 1,800 young people aged between 14 and 19 spoke to in excess of 70 organisations.
Councillor Christopher Akers-Belcher, lead member for skills for Tees Valley Combined Authority, said: “It is vital young people leave school or further education with an understanding of what skills and qualifications employers require.
“This event will give them the opportunity to speak directly to employers and training providers about what they are looking for when recruiting staff.
“It is important for the economy that today’s generation is aware of the depth of career options the area can offer.
“This event will demonstrate the wide range of fulfilling careers young people can pursue without having to leave the area.”
Jo Thompson, of Tees Valley Learning Provider Network, added: “This is a fantastic opportunity for young people and a great chance for employers to interact with their future workforce.”
The exhibition will take place at Teesside University on Tuesday, September 20.
