ORGANISERS behind a business expo say dozens of companies have already signed up for this year’s event.

Durham Oktoberfest returns for a ninth time later this year, offering manufacturing and engineering firms the chance to meet potential suppliers and customers.

More than 100 businesses took to stands last year, and bosses have revealed a significant number are returning again.

They will include EDM Zone, which provides engineering and machining services to customers across the oil and gas, automotive, aerospace and renewables sectors.

Roger Wilson, business development and marketing manager at the Newcastle-based company, said it secured new work from its Oktoberfest appearance.

He said: “We didn’t know what to expect but were so impressed many of our existing clients were there.

“It got us in front of potential clients that otherwise we might not have had the chance to meet.”

David Land, chairman of the County Durham Engineering Manufacturing Network, which organises Durham Oktoberfest, added: “The event gives companies the chance to come away with real business leads.

“EDM Zone is another example of a company that, as a direct result of exhibiting at Oktoberfest, has expanded and we’re delighted they’re returning.”

Durham Oktoberfest takes place on Thursday, October 20 at The Xcel Centre, in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham.

Seminars and workshops, on issues such as funding and social media, are also planned for the day.
