STAFF at a chemical firm have set themselves a charitable challenge. Workers at Lucite International’s Cassel site, in Billingham, near Stockton, raised £3,000 last year for local and national good causes. However, they are now looking to beat that number in 2016, and have a number of events planned to do so. Dawn Reed, chairwoman of the Cassel Community Steering Group, said: “It proved to be a record breaking year. It was great that everyone threw themselves into the events we organised and it was unbelievable that we raised so much in what was effectively six months of the year.” The acrylics maker employs around 250 people at the Cassel Site, and the company has a long history of backing Billingham-based events, which include the Community Carnival and the Community Games organised by the Billingham Legacy Foundation.
