A WATER treatment specialist says it will increase turnover after investing in machinery to make its products.

Conder Aqua Solutions, in Peterlee, east Durham, aims to lift turnover by 20 per cent and raise production levels.

It is using rotomoulding technology to make tanks, with bosses saying the firm is one of the UK’s first wastewater companies to carry out the process.

Earlier this year, The Northern Echo revealed Conder was creating North-East jobs after securing a deal with Canadian-based industry leader Premier Tech.

The move is expected to take Conder’s 89-strong workforce to more than 100 staff.

Stuart Wray, Conder managing director, said: “The introduction of this new technology will open up a whole new range of market opportunities for us.

“The market is demanding more advanced technology that has an improved performance.

“For companies like us, which are prepared to respond to that demand, it’s great.

“By leading this development, we are creating new methods of manufacturing, and for the region that means new skills, new opportunities and an increase in production at Peterlee.”

Conder has previously worked on a number of projects in the region, including supplying a septic tank to Sailor's Hall, in east Durham, which was built by Admiral Milbanke, relative of Sir Ralph Milbanke of Seaham Hall, as a summer retreat in 1787.

It has also supplied sewage treatment and animal waste storage to farms and homes in County Durham.
