A PRODUCTION firm is focused on expansion after securing a contract to promote the Tour de France in the region.

Fridge Productions, in Saltburn, east Cleveland, won a £10,000 deal to work on the Yorkshire leg of the grand cycling spectacle.

The event starts in Leeds on July 5, running to Reeth, in the Yorkshire Dales, before looping back to Harrogate.

It covers 118 miles, of which 100 are in North Yorkshire.

The video was commissioned by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority.

It includes ITV cycling commentator Phil Liggett and specialists who previously worked on projects including James Bond film Quantum of Solace.

Bosses at Fridge, who have overseen turnover increase 20 per cent, say the work will help plans to increase its customer base.

The firm is now making a television commercial with the same camera used to shoot the Skyfall James Bond movie.

David Jinks, Fridge’s producer and director, said: “As an avid cyclist, having cycled from Billingham to High Force when I was 16, this was a dream job.

“It’s wonderful Le Tour is going through Yorkshire, and it will give a welcome emotional and economic lift to the region in a way that the 2012 Olympics did for London.

Richard Payne, communications director at Yorkshire Dales, added: “The video has been a great success with viewers from around the world.”
