A NORTH-EAST builder is creating jobs to cope with increased demand.

The Esh Group, in Durham City, wants a number of workers from construction directors to trainees as it bids to continue its growth.

The company is holding recruitment events across the region to find staff.

Esh, which has a £200m turnover, is determined to strengthen its construction division, which is bouncing back from a five-year slump in demand throughout the industry.

Earlier this year, it revealed it was targeting work across the North and into Scotland after completing a deal for a Cumbrian firm Border Construction.

John Davies, Esh Construction’s managing director, said: “We’ve got tremendous work pipelines across all divisions and regions of the business, particularly in civil engineering, commercial build and house building in the North East, Cumbria and Yorkshire.

“We are offering excellent job opportunities at almost every level of the business, from construction directors to trainees and operatives.

“We want experienced people who will hit the ground running and others who have the right attitude to buckle down and take advantage of the opportunity.”

The firm is holding open days for prospective workers to meet company bosses.

The events take place at Middlesbrough Football Club’s Riverside Stadium on Thursday, June 26, and at Newcastle United’s St James’ Park on Wednesday, July 2, between 4pm and 9pm.
