MORE than North-East 70 jobs are under threat after a firm revealed plans to move work to the South.

Siemens is moving its human resources department, in Durham City, to Dorset.

Bosses say consultation has started with its 74-strong North-East workforce.

A spokeswoman said: “As part of its long-term strategy to position itself for sustainable, healthy growth, Siemens Human Resources Centre in Durham is to move to Poole in Dorset.

“Every attempt will be made to make these changes through restructuring and transferring roles to Poole wherever possible.

“We will consult fully with employees and representatives to achieve a positive outcome.

“Siemens is a highly successful business and remains committed to the UK.

“This announcement does not impact on our operations and business goals.”
