NORTH-EAST workers will lose their jobs after a women's clothing retailer fell into administration.

Administrators say 19 workers at Internacionale UK in Gateshead will be made redundant.

The move is part of eight closures at the troubled high street chain, which was hit by poor trading.

Bosses say 91 members of staff face redundancy across branches in Telford, Crawley, Bradford, Maidstone, Mansfield, Denton, in Greater Manchester, and Bangor, Northern Ireland.

Bruce Cartwright, joint administrator and partner at PwC, said: “Since appointment, the administrators of Internacionale have been assessing the viability of the company store portfolio.

“As a result of this ongoing review, the administrators have taken the difficult decision to close eight stores, which means 91 staff working at these stores will be made redundant in due course.

“The PwC team is making every effort to assist staff at this difficult time and administrators will provide further updates as developments occur.”
