A NORTH-EAST law firm has played a key role in the creation of an £8.5m medical centre.

Muckle LLP helped healthcare provider Keiro Group buy land for The Gateway neurological rehabilitation facility, in Middlehaven, Middlesbrough.

The centre is currently being built, and once erected, will be the first of its kind to provide support for people with long-term nervous system disorders, providing a community well-being hub, a health club and housing.

Keiro, based in Whickham, near Gateshead, appointed Muckle to buy the land from Middlesbrough Council and the Homes and Communities Agency.

Building work on the centre is expected to be finished later this year.

Boda Gallon, chief executive at Keiro, said: “This will be the first development of its kind and will transform the way people with long-term neurological conditions access and use services in the North-East to help regain and retain their independence.

“The team at Muckle LLP worked very well with us to ensure everything went through as quickly as possible.”

Adrian Hicks, associate solicitor in Muckle LLP's real estate group, said: “This is an exciting project, which will make a huge difference in enabling people with neurological conditions to lead more independent lives.”
