A FAMILY-RUN technology company is feeling top of the league after backing a football team to a showpiece Wembley final.

Map Group (UK), a Stockton-based satellite broadband and LED lighting provider, sponsors Bradford City, who defeated Premier League side Aston Villa on Tuesday night to reach the Capital One Cup final.

The business, formed in 1993, has received a surge in interest thanks to its support for the Yorkshire club, who also beat Arsenal and Wigan Atheltic on their way to Wembley.

The firm took over from Bradford and Bingley Building Society as the club's principal sponsor in 2009 when one of its directors, who hails from the city, saw an opportunity to back the team.

It previously supported a team in the British Superbike Championship supersport class, but director Matthew Carlin said Bradford's success had given the business an unexpected but tremendous publicity boost.

He said: “It is a fantastic feeling to be part of the club's history making run and it has been massive for the company too.

“From the Arsenal game the momentum just built up, the success is unbelievable and as a family company we are really proud.”
