Mystery wagon appeal made

POLICE have appealed for information from witnesses after a female motorist was apparently struck by a horse box or wagon as she was getting into her car.

It took place on the A690 in Frederick Street North, Meadowfield, near Durham, on Saturday at about 1pm.

The 42-year-old woman was treated at the University Hospital of North Durham, Durham, for injuries to her right arm.

Police said the brown or burgundy contraption appeared to have left the scene, continuing in a south-westerly direction on the A690, apparently heading towards Brancepeth Village.
