A COUPLE who offer an unusual choice of transport for wedding days is looking forward to a busy 2010.
James and Rachel Calvert offer brides and grooms a choice from their fleet of classic Volkswagen vehicles – from Beetles to camper vans.
The couple run Lovedubcars from their home in Middleton St George Husband and wife team have attended 70 weddings since their first in September and already have the same number booked for 2010 from couples in County Durham, North Yorkshire and even Northumberland.
Their fleet includes a 1965 splitscreen campervan, named Chaz; a 1969 bay window camper called Tilly; a 1975 Beetle cabriolet named Mr Bennett and its modern equivalent, Alice.
Another campervan, dubbed Julio, is to join the fleet shortly.
Mrs Calvert, who is a lung specialist nurse by day, said: “The demand has just been incredible, things have really taken off.”
She paid tribute to BiB Insurance of Darlington which has helped from the start.
“We’re so grateful for the expertise BiB has offered us as a relatively new business.
“We often need drivers adding to the insurance at just a few hours’ notice, but it’s never been a problem.”
