(A167 NORTHBOUND CARRIAGEWAY BETWEEN A1(M) & B6444, AYCLIFFE (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2018
The Council on 01/06/18 made an Order under Section 14 (1)
of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, as amended, to close
to all vehicular traffic a 555 mtr length of A167 northbound
carriageway between its junctions with A1(M) Junction 59 &
B6444 St Andrews Way Roundabout south of Aycliffe Village:
Phase 1 - Closed between Junction 59 Interchange & the access
to Forrest Park; Phase 2 - Closed between the access to Forrest
Park & B6444 Roundabout by reason of carriageway resurfacing
works to be undertaken. The maximum duration of the temporary
closure under the Order is 18 months and is required between 7.00
pm & 6.00 am nightly from Mon 11/06/18 and for the duration of
the works anticipated to be 6 nights (3 nights per phase). However,
on rare occasions, alternative dates for closure may be necessary
and these will be signed accordingly. An alternative route will be
available to vehicular traffic from (Phase 1) the southern side of
the closure from A1(M): (a) northerly via A1(M) to or south from,
Junction 60 (Bradbury) then westerly on A689 and south easterly
on A167 (to the crossover to Forrest Park), or (b) south westerly
via A1(M) to or northerly from Junction 58 (Burtree) then north
westerly on A68 and continuing northerly on A6072 then easterly
on B6444 to A167; and to the northern side of the closure, and
vice versa for Phase 2. An additional route will be signposted from
Junction 59 via A167 southerly to the junction with Burtree Lane
then generally westerly to A68 and via Junction 58 to (b) above.
