(C38 STOCKTON ROAD, SEDGEFIELD) (30 MPH & DE-RESTRICTION SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 2018
The Council proposes to make an Order under Sections 81, 82, 83 & 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to introduce on the C38 Stockton Road, Sedgefield (1) a de-restricted speed limit from a point 76 mtrs south east of its junction with I Unc Thurlow Rd in a south easterly direction to its junction with the A689; and (2) a 30mph speed limit from its junction with Beacon Lane in a south easterly direction to a point 76 mtrs south east of its junction with Unc Thurlow Rd. A copy of the draft Order may be inspected at Sedgefield Library during normal opening hours and via the Council website. (A689 LITTLE CHEF ROUNDABOUT TO SANDS HALL ROUNDABOUT, SEDGEFIELD) (TEMPORARY CONTRAFLOWS, SPEED RESTRICTIONS AND ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2018
The Council on 09/03/18 made an Order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, as amended, to close to restrict all vehicular traffic on the following lengths of roads by reason of carriageway resurfacing works to be undertaken as follows: Road Closure: A) Prohibit vehicular traffic from travelling in a westerly direction on the westbound carriageway of A689 between its junctions with Little Chef Roundabout & Sands Hall Roundabout; (B) A 5 mtrlengthofthewesternsectionofLittleChefRoundabout, southofthe southernkerblineof eastboundA689 entryontotheroundabout; (C) A 5 mtrlengthoftheeasternsectionofSands Hall Roundabout between the east & westbound running lanes of the contraflow of the A689 westbound entry onto the roundabout; (D) The central reserve crossover of A689 opposite C38 Stockton Rd including the right turn deceleration lane, east of Little Chef Roundabout. Speed Limit: (E) Prohibit vehicular traffic from driving at a speed in excess of 40 miles per hour along: (i) A689 eastbounddual carriagewayfromapoint 1160metreswest ofcirculatoryroadofthe A177 Sands Hall Roundabout, Sedgefield, incorporating Sands Hall Roundabout and Little Chef Roundabouts to a point 120 metres east of A177 Little Chef Roundabout; (ii) A689 westbound dual carriageway from a point 1530 metres east of and westerly to a point 1160 metres west of Sands Hall Roundabout; (iii) A177 between the Little Chef Roundabout and a point 960 metres south east. Contraflows & Prohibition of movement: (F) Prohibit the movement of vehicular traffic over that length of road of: (a) A689 Sands Hall Roundabout and the A689/A177 Little Chef Roundabout. 1. During the closure of the section of dual carriageway specified in Article (F) above, no person shall cause any vehicle to: (i) Enter or proceed in the offside lane of the eastbound dual carriageway of the carriageway as specified in Article (F) (a) above, other than in a westerly direction; (ii) Overtake any moving vehicle in that length of carriageway; (iii) Make a U-turn in that length of carriageway. The maximum duration of the temporary closure under the Order is 18 months and is required from Saturday 10 March 2018 for the duration of the works anticipated to be 10 days. However, on rare occasions, alternative dates for the above restrictions may be necessary and these will be signed accordingly. Alternative route: (a) from Stockton Rd (south of A689) / Little Chef Roundabout westerly on A689 to & around Sands Hall Roundabout & returning eastbound along A689 to A689 Sedgefield-Hartlepool; (b) from Sands HallRoundabouteasterlyto& aroundLittleChefRoundabout andreturning westboundtoA689/ A1(M); and (c) from C38 / A689 easterly on A689 to & around Wynyard Roundabout, returning westbound along A689 to A177 Sedgefield-Stockton.
