YOUNG dancers from Darlington swept the board at a dance competition in Sunderland.
Around 14 youngsters aged between eight and 15 from the Born to Dance school in Northgate competed against three schools from Sunderland and Bishop Auckland at the Muriel Harrison Dance Festival.
The Darlington dancers dominated the competition, winning a staggering 39 trophies in categories including ballet, tap and modern dancing.
Sue Henderson, head of the Born to Dance school, said she was “absolutely amazed and really proud” of her students’ achievements.
She added that she recently learned that a dozen of her students have also won sought-after scholarships with the British Theatre Dance Association.
