HAVING reached the grand old age of 75, I am now paying £200-a-month council tax, £38 for a green bin, £15-a-month TV licence plus tax on my works pension having worked for 50 years.
Why is it that, as a pensioner, I am not entitled to any perks such as £300-plus for signing into the House of Lords and paying no tax on that perk or, like MPs, some claiming over £200,000 a year expenses and travelling first class on plane or train.
We have plenty of money to waste on daft projects like the Rwanda cock up or HS2 about turn which both have wasted millions.
We now have a boss of British Gas getting paid £8m-a-year because privatised energy companies are making massive profits while some pensioners cannot afford to put the heating on.
Dave Bowes, West Auckland.
