One person has been taken to hospital following a crash on a rural County Durham road this evening which has left the road cordoned off to motorists.
Emergency services convened on the Hedleyhill Lane (B6301) located slightly south of Cornsay Colliery this evening just before 5:30pm following reports of a crash.
The road was subsequently closed for an investigation into the incident, as one person was taken to University Hospital of North Durham.
According to AA Traffic maps, the road is still closed for investigation work as of 10pm on Thursday November 22.
The map reports: "Road closed due to crash investigation work on B6301 Hedleyhill Lane both ways between B6302 and Ivesley Lane.
"Ongoing since around 18:45."
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Hedleyhill Lane at 5.38pm on 22 November.
"We dispatched two ambulance crews, a rapid response paramedic and a clinical team leader, and requested support from Great North Air Ambulance Service.
"One person was taken to University Hospital North Durham."
