Northallerton May Fair will return for 2024 on Thursday (May 2), with details on parking, road closures, buses and taxis released for those visiting the event. 

The ever-popular event will bring fairground rides, food stalls and fun for all the family to Northallerton over a four-day schedule, including the Bank Holiday Monday. 

Taking place from May 2 to 6, the High Street in Northallerton will be taken over by a festival-style feeling - with North Yorkshire Council revealing all of the details that everyone needs to know if they're attending. 

High Street closures

Parts of Northallerton High Street between Zetland Street and The Buck Inn will be closed to traffic during the fair’s opening hours and as the fair is set up and dismantled. A signed diversion will be in place.

Closure times are:

Wednesday, May 1: 6pm until 11pm (set up only)

Thursday, May 2: 5:45pm to 11pm

Friday, May 3: 6pm to 11pm

Saturday, May 4: 10am to 11pm

Sunday, May 5: 1pm to 8pm

Monday, May 6: 1pm to 11pm

Parking

Parking will change from Wednesday, May 1 at 6pm until Tuesday, May 7.

The Applegarth long and short stay, Crosby Road long stay and the Forum long and short stay pay and display car parks will operate as usual, except for a small number of parking bays in the long stay area of the Applegarth Car Park which will be used by the Showmen’s Guild. The Civic Centre Car Park will also be available for parking.

There will be additional disabled parking bays outside Bianco and Northallerton Estate Agency.

Bus stops

Bus stops will be moved to a temporary bus stop on Zetland Street for northbound services, and outside the library for southbound services.

Taxi ranks

The Town Hall taxi rank will be relocated temporarily to outside the Old Post Office (High Street) for the period of the May Fair; the taxi rank on Zetland Street will remain open.

The Saturday market

The Saturday market (4 May) will be relocated to the area between Zetland Street and Romanby Road.
