Police have seized another off-road bike as they warn riders against the illegal use on public or private land.

Durham Police confiscated a bike in in the Bearpark area and shared pictures an area of land torn up by riders.

In a Facebook post, Durham Police said: "Another post to remind you that it's illegal to ride your bike or quad or 4x4 on public land or private land unless you have permission from the landowner.

"It's also illegal to ride on the highway unless you are insured, taxed, have a driving licence and comply with the Road Traffic Act.
The Northern Echo:

"In the Durham City area alone in the last month we have received 64 complaints of illegal off-road nuisance, many of these reports are from people who are blighted by your actions daily.

"We simply can't attend every incident reported to us because we are busy catching criminals and saving lives.

"But when we are free to attend we will do all we can to catch you and take your bike from you, we will probably also report you for all the offences you are committing.

"Today (Saturday) we took this pride and joy from the Bearpark area."

The post adds: "Parents if your child has a bike you have a duty to ensure they are riding legally and safely, and wearing the correct safety equipment."

"This means taking your child to an organised event or a legal motorcycle track using a van or a trailer.

"Please do not buy them a bike and let them out, turning a blind eye to their illegal activities, you are putting them in danger, you are allowing them to break the law, and helping them to ruin other peoples lives.

"We will not stop until the antisocial use of motor vehicles stops."
